Nina Sickler, founder and president, is a registered Florida PE with more than 20 years experience in transportation engineering. Her professional background includes prior experience with two ENR top 20 firms, including serving as Vice President and Operations Manager for a full-service transportation design staff of 35 employees since 2001. As President, Ms. Sickler successfully led Landmark Engineering to be named one of Jacksonville’s fastest growing businesses in 2011 by the Jacksonville Business Journal (JBJ).  In addition, she was honored with a JBJ “Woman of Influence” award in 2011 and Landmark has received the JBJ Minority Business Award for 5 straight years.

Ms. Sickler’s design experience includes highway and bridge design and project management for a broad range of transportation projects throughout the state of Florida, from minor widenings to major, multi-level interchange design.  Her structures design experience includes AASHTO pre-stressed girder and flat slab bridges, horizontally-curved steel box girders, segmental concrete superstructures, and post-tensioned and conventionally reinforced concrete superstructures and substructure design. She has experience in detailing for repair and widening of existing structures, bridge load rating, as well as design of box culverts, overhead sign structures and mastarm and strain pole signal structures. She holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree, summa cum laude, from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Alan Rainer, principal project manager, is a registered Florida P.E. with more than 26 years of highway and design management experience.  His expertise encompasses a wide range of activities including concept development, horizontal and vertical alignment design, drainage design, signing and marking, utility coordination, maintenance of traffic and cost estimating. Mr. Rainer has successfully managed more than 75 projects throughout Florida and the Southeast.  His experience includes design for a variety of projects ranging from 2-lane local collector roads to arterial state roads and major interstates. In addition he holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from Auburn University.  Mr. Rainer provides innovative leadership to our roadway design team by utilizing his proven project management abilities and design expertise for both complex and simple projects.

Steve Starnes, senior structural engineer, is a registered Florida P.E. with 15 years experience in the design and analysis of bridge and highway structures. His design expertise includes the following structure types: concrete segmental, horizontally curved steel box, Florida U-Beams (FUBs), conventional precast concrete girders, cast-in-place slabs and precast/prestressed concrete decks, ship impact analyses, sign structures, mast-arm and strain-pole signals and high-mast lighting. He has experience in design of bridge repair projects, including the emergency repair of I-10 over Escambia Bay restoring traffic to the Interstate only 17 days after the bridge was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan. Mr. Starnes holds a Masters Degree in Engineering from the University of Texas and Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from the University of Florida.
